Fujifilm's business model catches Japan's eye

Fujifilm's managing director Dave Marshall receives international award for his digital printing business model.

In recognition of the strategy, Fujifilm president and CEO, Shigetaka Komori presented Marshall with a company award that has never previously been given to a Fujifilm director outside of Japan.

For Marshall (pictured), receiving the award was an honour. "This award means a great deal to me, especially from Mr Komori - an inspirational leader," Marshall said.

Australian CEO Mike Machida praised Marshall on receiving the award and for developing a digital printing business model that had changed the photographic market in Australia.

"Digital printing is now ubiquitous, providing significant new business opportunities for retailers as well as convenient digital printing services that are easily available for consumers," he said.

"This strategy is a credit to Dave Marshall and he is very deserving of receiving such a history-making and prestigious award by Fujifilm Japan. While this business model will continue to evolve, it is not being rolled out by Fujifilm globally due to its extensive functionality and networking features."

Not content to rest on his laurels, Marshall said that he was looking forward to continually improving the digital printing business model to ensure there are ongoing benefits for both retailers and consumers.

"With more than 5000 Fujifilm DPC kiosks in the marketplace, there are now more digital prints printed in Australia than any other country, from a whole market perspective," he said.
