Fuller focuses on PSO certification
David Fuller’s Focus Press moves forward with Ugra PSO certification to IS0 12647-2.
The certification achieved on a Komori Lithrone S40P 10-colour perfecting press marks the latest development for the Sydney-based green printer. Focus Press’ prepress manager, David D’Astoli worked closely with Jason Hall of CMYKit throughout the process which involved “tweaking our existing equipment and procedures to integrate into our ISO 9001 system, allowing us to achieve the requirements for Ugra PSO.”
He believes that it has greatly improved efficiency for the company. “The most powerful outcome of the whole process is that the printers are now able to run densities derived from CMYKit,” D’Astoli said. “The print and proof match, every time in quick time.”
According to Garry Knespal, GASAA executive officer and independent auditor, the qualification will allow Focus Press to consistently achieve print quality. “The team at Focus Press met all of the international colour standard operation procedures required for the PSO,” he said. “They produced high-quality proofs, plates and multiple print samples that passed in every respect both under on-site test conditions and rigorous scientific measuring at the Ugra laboratory in Switzerland.”
