GAMAA introduces one-day workshop due to industry interest

The workshop, 'Winning Negotiations' is presented by GAMAA under its Leadership Program and allows participants to gain experience in approaching negotiation as a structured process, discovering the importance of preparation including defining objectives and limits, analysing negotiation styles, consider trading concessions and exploring ways to build value in a negotiating relationship.

The theme of negotiation was chosen due to its relevance in all aspects of peoples' lives, according to Samantha Crock, GAMAA education manager. "Negotiation is a core life skill," she said. "Whether we are negotiating with clients, suppliers and colleagues or those in our personal life, we all spend a substantial part of each day negotiating."

Professor John Onto (pictured) will lead the workshop. Onto has been part of the Melbourne Business School since 1995; prior to this he worked as a professor in management at Georgetown University for eight years. Crock belives that Onto's skills and experiences will benefit all of those attending the 'Winning Negotiations' workshop. "Designed to develop leadership skills within the industry ... GAMAA works closely with senior academics and business consultants from Australia's top universities and business schools to develop rigorous and challenging content," she said.
