GAMAA to sponsor LIA graduate of the year

The national scholarship award, which comprises study and/or travel, is bestowed biennially at the LIA National Convention. In 2005 the LIA has combined with Printing Industries (NSW) to present the Get Connected Conference in November, at which the LIA Graduate of the Year will be announced.

Alastair Hadley, acting president of GAMAA, claims the LIA Graduate of the Year Award reflected his organisation's core objective of investing in the industry's future by promoting further study.

“Past recipients of the LIA Graduate of the Year scholarship have undertaken study tours overseas enabling them to gain a broader understanding of the issues that face the graphic arts industry today,” says. “The exposure to other cultures, business environments and practices is invaluable in developing the future leaders of our industry in Australia.”

“GAMAA has a long tradition of supporting educational based activities for the printing and graphic arts industries. Our own Leadership Scholarship programme initiated in 2000 has seen tens of industry professionals participate in industry-focused residential workshops with a select number being awarded scholarships for further study.”

“GAMAA's educational philosophy of inspiring and challenging to create sound leadership skills is aptly reflected in the awarding of the LIA Graduate of the Year scholarship. GAMAA is proud once again to support this award. We trust this year's recipient gains full benefit from the opportunities presented.”

The GAMAA Leadership Scholarship and extended workshop programme is open to those working in the printing, graphic arts and related industries and provides a unique educational opportunity. To find out more about the GAMAA Leadership programme visit www.gamaa.net.au.
