Geoff Selig quits as boss cocky of BSP Australia

The high-profile resignation comes as Blue Star Print beds down its most recent takeovers of iconic industry companies, McMillan Printing and National Capital Printing and Pirion as reported in Print 21 earlier this year.  Selig, who said he had a desire to pursue other interests, will remain in his position of CEO until the end of the year.

“I don’t have any firm plans but I will be leaving the industry,” he said. “It’s ten years since we sold the company to Blue Star and I want a break. I’ll be spending some time on my grazing property in Crookwell.”

Selig (pictured) is leaving the private-equity backed group as well-known Heidelberg entity, Darren Davies, joins the company in the newly created role of group general manager print – BSPG Australia. Davies will be responsible for all Blue Star sheetfed business units in Australia and will report direct to Mike Shannon. The appointment further cements the group’s business relationship with Heidelberg. In his new role he will be based in the company’s state-of-the-art site at Clayton Victoria.

As he leaves Geoff Selig reiterated his belief in the consolidation business model that has driven the multi-million dollar injection from CHAMP Private Equity and predicted there will be more to come. “We’re working on some at the moment. It’s obviously been very good for Blue Star and, I believe, the industry as a whole.

“I feel privileged to have worked at Blue Star over the last ten years with the most talented and committed people in our industry. The stability and strength of our client base is testament to the incredibly high customer service culture of our business.”
