George Gatehouse bows out from top job at McPherson's
Gatehouse's resignation will be effective from the 1st of July, after which point Alan Fahy will be appointed to the position of chief executive officer under the company's new structure. Following this transition, Gatehouse will assume a non-executive advisory role and will work closely with Fahy during the Maryborough plant re-structure and re-equipment programme.
Fahy is credited with possessing the credentials for his new role, having worked with Gatehouse for over 13 years at McPherson's. Over the last several years he has been enlisted as the general manager commercial and even functioned as Gatehouse's understudy in recent months, with the retiring general manager claiming he fulfilled the role with distinction.
Gatehouse has expressed his best wishes for his successor, and claims his 16 years as divisional general manager has been a rewarding experience. “Together, with the support of our strong management team, we have seen the successful emergence of our company as the largest, best equipped and most diversified book manufacturing company in Australia,” he says. “Equal to the world's best, and well regarded within the Australian printing industry.”
