Get Connected to Profitable Knowledge

Most recent is Lucia Dauer, a European authority on workflow, who is part of the LIA Technical component. Her topic is Climbing Through the Jargon to Create a Competitive Workflow.

Ms Dauer is part of the 'Prinect' product management team, working on production and management solutions in the integration of workflows from prepress to post press.

Her background includes four years working on research projects related to colour image quality and colour management at the globally renowned FOGRA Institute in Munich, Germany. Ms Dauer was also a product manager with Heidelberger Druckmaschinen responsible for the introduction of new technologies, workflow integration and the development of business models for the company's customers.

Get Connected is the first major Australian printing industry conference in almost a decade and the first of its kind in the Australasian region involving printing industry associations from nine countries.

Printing Industries National Director, marketing and media services, Joe Kowalewski, says the conference offers an ideal opportunity for Australian and Asian printing companies to explore options for collaboration and co-operation.

"No one in business, regardless of their size, can afford to shut themselves off from the commercial realities brought about by competition, technology and market evolution. Nor should you ignore the potential for success by embracing knowledge or not accept competition as a business asset.”

“Competition forces you to perform better, to welcome innovative ideas, to be open to innovative and sometimes challenging practices that help set you apart from everyone else. At the end of the day, print is a commodity form of communication. It's how you build on it that counts.”

Each of the nine participating Asian countries will present an overview of industry performance and new business models developed or being developed by their respective industries.

Plenary, technical and business streams provide a range of topics suitable for senior and middle management and production employees. The future of proofing; colour management; how successful CEOs deal with overcapacity, competition and technology challenges; profiting from the environment; benchmarking, maintaining global colour standards; managing IT; future software developments; pushing the limits of technology; benchmarking, creating and keeping a successful workforce and marketing for printing companies are among the conference topics.
