Entries are open for the second annual Wrap Master Challenge hosted by the Australian Sign & Graphics Association (ASGA).
“The Wrap Master Challenge is to our industry what 20/20 is to cricket - skilled exponents working under pressure, inventive team members limited by time as they produce an end product,” said Michael Punch, ASGA general manager.
“The 20/20, which may not be for the purists, does bring attention and life to the game of cricket; so the wrap challenge highlights the value of this form of marketing and its endless possibilities.”
Victorian company Graphic Effects won last year’s successful inaugural event and ASGA said sponsors were eager for the event to become an annual one.
“We again thank our key event sponsors: Roland DG; 3M and Australian Visual Solutions,” said ASGA. “Together with new sponsor, Lamination System, they have put together some wonderful prizes for this year’s national finalists.”
Car wrapping has seen significant growth in recent times and is now a fast growing market segment in the sign and graphics industry.
Entrants from each state will compete in state finals, with the winning teams going to the national final where prizes will include a Roland SOLJET PRO4 XR-640, a Sign Master 1600 Pro Laminator and a 3M Bundle Pack. Corel, Ecolease, Yellotools and Knifeless Tech Systems will also offer event prizes and support during the Challenge.
The state finals begin in NSW next month with the national final set for Melbourne in September. Here’s the full schedule: May 14: NSW/ACT (VI EXPO Homebush); June 25: SA/NT (Adelaide); July 16: WA (Perth); August 13: QLD (Brisbane); September 17: VIC & TAS (Melbourne); National Final - September 18 (VI EXPO Melbourne).
Any ASGA company can enter a team of three people. All wrap challenge events will use 3M premium wrap film. Entrants can bring their own favourite tools. More information and entry forms available here.
