Global interest in Graphic World auction

The huge amount of kit on sale as a result of Pacific Printing’s decision to amalgamate its two Sydney sites has sparked inquiries from everywhere, according to Grays Online Auctions printing specialist, Andy McCourt.

“We have fielded serious enquiries so far from Korea, Hong Kong, India, Egypt, France, Spain, Germany, UK, USA and even one from the Ukraine,” he told print21.com.au. Australian interest has been strong too, particularly for the finishing and bindery assets.

With the online auction starting today, 18th January at 4:00pm, bidding is expected to build up to a frenzy before the close on Wednesday 24th January at 5:00pm.

“We made this sale a late close to accommodate our overseas customers,” said McCourt, “it’s between 6 and 8 am in Europe and 9am to 3pm in Asia and the Middle East. If bids are received 10 minutes before auction close, a 10-minute refresh period applies and is repeated as long as active bidding is happening; until there are no more bids for a 10-minute period. This is much like a traditional auction’s ‘going-going-gone’ fall of hammer model and fair to all bidders,” he said.

A huge quantity of paper has been added into the auction, all in mill packs and pallets and in a variety of matt, satin and gloss surfaces. Names such as Monza, Sumo, Australian Paper, Bon-Art, Terraprint and Glowpaque are featured in various grammages and sizes.

All items can be inspected onsite on Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd January from 8:30am to 4:00pm.

With around 350 lots expected to go under the ‘online hammer’ the complete catalogue will be displayed on the Grays website from 4pm today, 18th January.

Printing equipment from names such as Heidelberg, Stahl, MBO, Hunkeler, Sheridan, Harris, Scitex, Creo, Sulby and many more are featured
