400 visitors flock to QLM Label Makers, to see first granite Gallus ECS 340 installed in Southern Hemisphere.

The press went live for the first time at the Brisbane company’s two-day Open House last week, which, according to general manager, Simon Pugh, drew a crowd of over 200 clients.

“Everyone who attended were suitably impressed with the machine,” he said.

Special guests included local MP, Judy Spence, state member for Sunnybank, and Ferdinand Reusch vice president of Gallus, who made to trip to Australia especially for the launch with his wife, Karin and local Gallus manager, James Rodden.

“Having Ferdinand in attendance demonstrated the importance of the occasion,” said Pugh. “Gallus have been a great company to be in business with. We are only a small business, but they felt it was still important to be with us.”

Printing Industries’ Queensland manager, Neal McLary, believes that the company is now in a unique position in terms of what the machine is capable of.

“QLM Label Makers were a highly deserved recipient of our Queensland Printing Industries’ Award for Business Excellence in 2008, and since then the Company has gone from strength-to-strength and the installation of their new press, with its enhanced flexibility and capacity, will continue to consolidate QLM’s position in a highly competitive marketplace,” he said.

The 35-year-old business was started by Simon’s father, the late David Pugh, and his wife, Del. Simon stressed while it is still a family business, each of the employees have contributed to the company’s history and achievements. “The success of QLM has been from the people we have working here,” he said. “Mum and I are both very proud of what QLM has achieved, but that pride is felt by everybody working here.”
