Green growth for JT Press

Brisbane floods are no barrier for JT Press in achieving its Sustainable Green Print Level 2 certification.

JT Press already achieved Sustainable Green Print (SGP) Level 2 certification in 2010 and says it wants to progress to SGP Level 3 – meeting the requirements of ISO14001 certification – in the first part of this year.

“The devastating floods have been a terrible introduction to 2011 and it will be a long time before homes, businesses and our state are able to recover,” said general manager of JT Press, Tom Gorman.

“But that’s no reason to stand still. JT Press has a commitment to its clients to meet their needs in all conditions; and a commitment to its staff to remain a dynamic and forward thinking company able to provide for their ongoing employment needs.”

According to Gorman, the company has already expanded its large format capacity and is in the process of acquiring a new digital press and in-house cello machine.

“Hand-in-hand with this we will be undertaking Printing Industries' Sustainable Green Print Level 3 certification training so that we can better identify, measure and manage our environmental impacts through an environmental management system that is printing industry specific whilst being aligned with ISO14001,” he said.

“The current flood crisis and our proximity to Moreton Bay Marine Park gives us extra reason to be conscious of the environment, and SGP’s key performance indicators ensure not only responsible environmental management but better use of our resources, and that saves money as well as the environment.”
