Green pioneers recognised on World Environment Day

The United Nations Association of Australia hosted the event at Melbourne’s Grand Hyatt Hotel last week to commemorate World Environment day. Finsbury Green Printing picked up the Business Enterprise Award under the Environmental Best Practice Program.

The award recognises Finsbury’s efforts in bringing every stage of the printing process in line with an environmental agenda, with the Environmental Best Practice Program. acknowledging its endeavours in supporting new ideas, producing new standards and actively demonstrating an awareness of environmental responsibilities.

Rodney Wade, marketing manager at Finsbury Green Printing, says the award is of great significance for the company as it comes from such a highly respected international organisation.

“This is our sixth environmental award, and is without question the most significant for our company as it legitimises our position as Australia’s leading environmental printer,” says Wade.

“Strong support from Finsbury’s directors and all of our staff have contributed to making our environmental initiatives possible, and this award validates their contribution,” he says.

The awards were hosted by Rob Gell, Victorian president of Greening Australia, and emphasises actions taken at a local level to address global environmental issues. The organisers aim to showcase excellence in overall management at a whole of business level in relation to the environment.

Awards were also presented in the categories of Triple Bottom Line, Green Building, Marine and Coastal Management, Water Management, Local Government, Education, Community, Individual and Media.
