Green printer lands government support contract
Environmental print certification helps Victoria-based Midway Print Group land a place on the Government’s Centrelink print contract panel.
According to environmental officer, Lee Harrold, the company recently added ISO 14001 Environmental Management System accreditation to its green credentials. It is already an FSC accredited printer through the SGS auditing body.
“From an operational point of view, achieving the EMS ISO 14001 accreditation has given the company more flexibility of working with environmentally conscience clients in an ever changing industry. In addition to producing a more environmentally sound product,” he says.
Predominantly a trade printer, Midway Print Group also deals with retail accounts. However, a large percentage of work comes from its print management clients, including Ergo Asia, Finsbury Green, Corporate Express, Stream Solutions, Fox Print Solutions, and a number of major printers.
Trading for 35 years with a complement of around 40 staff, the company primarily produces business forms, books and pads, with the majority being on carbonless substrate. It can flexibly run 24 hours a day seven days a week if required.
Over the last five years Midway has developed a colour printing profile in which it trades as Midway Colour Australia and has the same stringent quality and environmental policies as Midway Print Group.
The company will be attending Finsbury Green’s Victorian Government print tender meet’n’greet on 19 October at Melbourne’s town hall.
