Grit proves hit for printers and punters
Wellington printer, Lithoprint, gets down to the nitty gritty with new board game.
The New Zealand offset printer was responsible for printing 300 copies of a game, Grit, which aims to promote secondary school learning about the local rural sector.
Developed by the Agriculture and Horticulture Industry Training Organisations and designed by FitzBeck Creative, Grit confronts players with a range of daily farming scenarios and can be played by two to six players or teams.
Lithoprint's Charles Framhein, said that the job required a variety of challenging print solutions. "The challenges of this project gave us the opportunity to showcase the skills of our team," he said.
"The board game consists of multiple elements, predominantly printed in full-colour, with a range of print-finishing techniques applied, including specialist die-cuts, reinforcing and laminations for added durability."
These efforts may well have paid off. Grit has not only been entered in this year's Print In Print Awards, but also praised by those who play it.
"Client satisfaction is the ultimate goal, while also feeling we have achieved the best possible outcome, on time and within budget. Feedback is that the game is very popular with students and valued by teachers," said Framhein.

That's true grit say the kids in New Zealand. Grit (pictured).
