Hannapak hits new heights with first HiPrint press

Family packaging business, Hannapak, makes an impression with Australia’s first installation of manroland R707 LV HiPrint press with inline foiler.

The seven-colour and coating sheetfed offset press, which was installed in November last year, was a result of a long-standing relationship between Hannapak and manroland. According to sales director, Sam Hanna, this is the fourth in the 700 series to be installed by the company.

“We have a close working relationship with manroland and over the years have been the first to install many of their innovations that are relative to the packaging market,” he said.

It was a trip to drupa in 2008 that planted the seed in Hanna’s mind when he witnessed inline foiling in full operation and wanted a machine that could offer him this functionality. “Once we knew that the technology was ready, we wanted to bring it to our market,” he said.

As the first machine to be installed in Australia with an inline foiling system, Hannapak has a major competitive advantage in the packaging market. Hanna recounts that: “Traditionally, there is foil stamping or metalised laminates, this crosses over both and creates entirely new design possibilities.” The new machine also comes complete with an AUPASYS logistics system, InlineInspector, InlineSorter and ColorPilot.

Servicing the confectionery, food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries, Hannapak is well aware that shelf presence is everything. “Our customers are continually looking for ways to differentiate and add value to their brand,” he said.

Newly appointed managing director of manroland Australia, Steve Dunwell, expects that the machine will open many doors for Hannapak and prove popular amongst other players.

“Hannapak have added features for maximum press productivity and new value-added features such as inline foiling to sell to their customers,” he said.

“The machine will have an impact on the print market for sure; it will really turn heads. “
