With commercial print flat-lining at best, causing a reduced appetite for offset press investment in the sector, Heidelberg is looking towards packaging to sustain its business, where there is global growth of a steady three per cent.

The company invited a large contingent of customers and media to Wiesloch Print Academy to see what Heidelberg has for the packaging industry.

A massive Speedmaster XL 145 topped the heavy metal array at the press manufacturer’s Wiesloch Print Media Academy’s customer event, but the real star of the show couldn’t make it. While invited guests moved from one Speedmaster presentation to another, the Primefire 106 digital inkjet press, Heidelberg’s beachhead into inkjet digital printing, is already miles away, installed at MPS Packaging in Obsulum.
