Featured at drupa this year, the PM52 is the new entry level Speedmaster that further extends Heidelberg’s offering in the competitive A3 market, according to Shane Hanlon, A3 Product Manager (pictured below left).

Based on the Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 52, the PM 52 enables printers to make the move from non-automated presses and take advantage of the increased speed and print quality with selectable automation options, all of which will be demonstrated during the tour.

The PM 52 is available from one to five colour units with a top operating speed of up to 13,000 sheets per hour providing simple press control with direct access to all functions.

All the control and monitoring functions are operated from the Press Control panel at the simple press of a button. Even in the standard model, circumferential and lateral registers, the ink fountain roller and the dampening ductor can be controlled remotely. The entire operating concept is simple and easy to understand and employs the 'one button =one function' principle.

The advanced inking and dampening system of the PM 52 mirrors that of the flagship SM 52 press, ensuring optimum ink saturation and short response times through its 18 inking rollers with a storage capacity ratio of 8.5. Additional print quality is provided with the option of a Short Path Inking Mode.

Productivity enhancements are facilitated by unique features including a precise suction tape feeder that can be converted from single stream to single sheet mode, and ‘easy plate’ for fast and precise plate clamping.

Selectable options such as Prinect Classic Centre remote ink and register control system, AutoPlate plate changer and automatic wash devices are also available and if combined with the inline option of numbering and perforating make the PM 52 a very automated high performance press.

“With the added option of a fully automatic perfecting device, this is a very versatile, yet economical press,” says Shane. “The PM52 enables suppliers to affordably compete in the provisioning of short to medium run jobbing and colour print services.”

"Providing customers with access to information on new technology is of primary importance at Heidelberg, says Shane. "Our trade shows, information seminars and national road shows allow us to showcase the latest Heidelberg products and more importantly offer all printers an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the benefits which are gained from our products, such as the New PM 52."
