Help boost print sales and estimating productivity
NSW companies wanting to better position themselves to take advantage of improving economic conditions have only one chance left this year to sharpen the skills of their new or key sales and estimating staff – and do it at a reduced cost.
Printing Industries national manager, learning and development, Simon Peppercorn, said the industry was entering a crucial business period in which competition would be strong for the expected seasonal surge in orders.
“There are increasingly good business opportunities out there with the Christmas period just around the corner, but they are not unlimited, so you need your people to be operating at a high level to make sure you company gets the orders,” he said.
“You need people trained to maximise both the sales opportunities and to support those opportunities with accurate estimating and job scheduling maximising press time and staffing.
“Service delivery is a key to profitability and customer retention and if you can combine this with smart job planning, materials use, quote accuracy and prompt job delivery, you are on the way to happier clients and increased profit at the business end.
“But you need the systems and people in place with the right knowledge to make it all happen, so that’s why we have a final round of Print Sales and Estimating and planning courses scheduled for the first week in November”.
Peppercorn believes that the Print Sales Course is suitable for both experienced sales people and new entrants. It comprehensively covers a wide range of topics including cultivating the customer, proving you are the right printer for the job, submitting proposals, six steps in preparing and submitting a proposal, handling objections and why objections as a better guide to selling and meeting competition.
The Estimating and Planning course is an advanced course covering preparing accurate estimates quickly, reducing business costs and increased organisational efficiencies, understanding how to build accurate hourly rates, maximising machine efficiencies, calculating materials accurately, understanding end product requirements, RFQ, communication with clients, economical ordering of raw materials and estimating to support sales.
“As an added incentive to help the sustainability of our members, we are offering a 10 per cent discount off the full course fees, saving companies up to $215 each,” Peppercorn said.
