Hotel all hung up over recycled hanger
A recycled clothes hanger developed by New Lynn print company, Westprint, has earnt both the praise of Auckland hotel, The Langham and the attention of this year's Pride In Print Awards.
The hanger was inspired by hotel management's desire to find a 'greener' alternative to plastic hangers used in its dry cleaning service and called in Westprint to come up with a solution. Director, Martin Nicholson, knew that there was a similar item overseas, but it was too expensive to bring in.
"The idea was already out there, but we elaborated on it by adding the debossing with the recycling information about the hotel," he said.
Produced on 300mic 100 per cent recycled Muda Boxboard, the hanger also required the efforts of TTL Press and Inline Graphics. "Planning was the key to the job and as a result it went very smoothly," said Nicholson.

"We now find it an easier way to break out eight pallets of coat hangers by hand. We are stoked with the result and feel like it's an item we can really market and get behind."
Staff from The Langham were just as impressed with the job, according to Nicholson. "The Langham is aiming to be a world leader in environmentally-friendly solutions within the hospitality industry," he said. "They are currently working to raise awareness within the hotel and promote environmentally-friendly and sustainable products."
