How to create endless sales leads: Nick Devine
Sales expert, Nick Devine, has some more advice on boosting your sales.
Back in 1984 I was working for Pitney Bowes in Cairns in far north Queensland. If you’ve never been there, it’s hot. In summer, it’s very hot. My company car was the Toyota Hiace from the warehouse with vinyl seats and no air-conditioning. I couldn’t afford a proper car because I was making no commission.
On a typical day I’d drive an hour to an outlying town. First I’d have to change my shirt because the one I was wearing during the drive was now stuck to my back. Then I would spend the next two to four hours walking up and down each street in the town cold prospecting. For someone with low self-esteem, this was not fun. I was also not very good at it. After my first nine months I was on about 50 per cent of target and barely surviving.

Fast-forward two years later. I’m now living on the Gold Coast south of Brisbane. I have a proper car with air-conditioning and those vinyl seats are a thing of the past. I’ve just done a year’s target in three months.
Well, a few things happened, but one of the most significant was that I learned smarter ways of generating leads. Over the following 20-plus years I’ve studied, learned and practiced this skill. What I’m about to share with you is a summary of some of my best tips in this area. If you need more sales leads, don’t be deceived by the simplicity of what you are about to discover. These strategies have made my partners and I millions of dollars.
