HP challenges Australasian printers to enter global contest

The manufacturer has issued a call for entries in the first-ever HP Print Excellence Awards, which merges several existing regional and worldwide awards into a single competition held during drupa 2012.

HP’s new worldwide competition covers print produced on its Designjet, Indigo, Inkjet Web Press and Scitex systems. Previously other awards, notably Dscoop, exclusively covered some of these printers.

According to Shane Lucas, director of HP Graphic Arts South Pacific, the new print battle royal is a great opportunity for local graphic arts operators to showcase their work and compete with peers around the world.

“Our customers in South Pacific have proven they are producing work that is world’s best practice and I believe the HP Print Excellence Awards will provide a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate the vast array of applications possible with HP graphic arts technology,” he says.

Free entry covers all 16 categories of commercial print, wide-format graphics and label and packaging applications. An international panel of print experts will select winners and also recognise innovative examples of environmentally responsible printing.

Christopher Morgan, senior VP of HP’s graphics solutions business, says the global awards will show how customers fully express their ingenuity, creativity and skill using HP solutions.

“We look forward to seeing how our customers are advancing the analogue to digital transformation and achieving new levels of colour quality and innovation,” he says.

HP graphic arts customers can download entry details and forms here. Entries are due by March 15, 2012. Winners will be announced at an invitation-only gala event held during drupa 2012 next May in Düsseldorf, Germany.
