HP print truck drops in on RMIT students

Visitors at RMIT's open day were greeted by the HP Currie Group Digital Print Truck last week.

The truck found some time out of its three-month tour of Queensland, NSW and Victoria to call in to the open day and introduce up-and-coming printers with the latest information in digital print technology.

"It was great to have the truck onsite for our open day," said Robert Black, director of RMIT International Centre of Graphic Technology.

On board the truck, the HP Indigo 3050, HP Designjet Z6100 and Z2100 large format printers were put through their paces. A range of graphic communication pieces were output during the course of the day, including design work by RMIT's graduates demonstrating the versatility of graphic arts courses available to those interested in a career in print.

Black praised the demonstrations and equipment. "The equipment on board gave a practical insight into advanced digital technology," he said.

"When the young people came on board you could see their eyes light up as they realised the level of sophistication in today's world of digital printing."

It wasn't long before it was time to keep on truckin' as the vehicle hit the road once more to make its way to NSW before concluding in Bendigo, Victoria on 22 September.
