HP puts virtual windows in Sydney Opera House
Nine large glass openings are being built into the western side of Sydney Opera House, to allow natural light and panoramic views of the harbour into the theatre foyers for the first time. The project has been designed by Sydney Opera House architect, Jørn Utzon.
Nicole Hall, head of Market Development, Sydney Opera House, said partnering with HP has helped bring to life the iconic Sydney views, which will be revealed by Utzon’s vision. The digitally printed ‘windows’ are designed to show what the finished work will look like.
“HP helped us transform standard interior construction hoardings into a vision of the future, while helping build anticipation for the opening in a few months,” said Ms Hall.
“The three theatres and the Western Foyer were added into Sydney Opera House after Utzon left the project in 1966. With this project he is revealing the magical harbour views and transforming the experience for theatregoers, visitors, performers and staff. “
Greg Healy, Corporate and Enterprise Marketing Director for HP, said this was just one of many projects that HP and Sydney Opera House have untaken since signing a strategic partnership last year.
“It has been terrific that HP has been able to use its industry leading technology to give visitors to Sydney Opera House a glimpse of what the future holds for the building. We are very pleased with the finished product and believe it displays the capabilities of HP’s imaging & printing division,” said Healy.
HP and Sydney Opera House have a three-year partnership comprises a yearly financial sponsorship to Sydney Opera House as well as access to HP services and hardware for a range of innovative projects.
