Image Expo’04 opens its doors today - Thursday
Billed as the most comprehensive display of digital imaging equipment, this year’s show is a sell out in terms of exhibitors. According to organiser Ken Pobjoy, Image Expo’04 has attracted strong support from exhibitors who recognise the show’s focus on its particular visual graphics segment – especially wide format digital printing.
“This emphasis is on digital for this year’s show,” he said. “Visitors will be able to keep up to date with all the advances in the field, many of them will be Australia’s first time to see products released at drupa in May.
“We’re expecting a large turnout of visitors with pre-registrations up by 60 percent this time around. It’s a ‘must see’ show for anyone interested in staying up with the technology. All the exhibition space is fully booked.”
He nominates as being of particular interest, the revival of dye sublimation printing for textiles – “only now it’s been driven by digital imaging,” he says. Other highlights are the first local exhibition of the giant DGI SpaceJet 3.2 metre solvent inkjet printer; Folks Graphics' showing of the Agfa Grand Sherpa 1.5 metre eight-colour ECO-solvent machine, while Intergraphic Technologies has the Zund UVJet 215 four-colour UV pigment flatbed printer.
Bob Murphy, Sandstone Software, is using Image Expo as the platform for the world premiere of his new MegaRIP V5.4, specially designed for screenprinters. The MegaRIP promises to produce film with 3.2 density at 720 dpi on any Epson printer using Ultrachrome inks.
