Independent Broken Hill newspaper upgrades with Goss press

“This is a big event for us,” explains Rod Niemann, circulation manager. “Our readers and advertisers have been patient, but they constantly ask us when the additional colour is coming. The Saturday paper in particular is always very tight for space, and we’ve had to try to keep it down to 24 pages just to get some spot colour.”

The new tower addition will be completed in August, allowing the reconfigured Community press to print up to eight pages of back-to-back colour and a similar amount of spot colour.

The Barrier Daily Truth is located in the mining centre of Broken Hill, New South Wales. The paper is published six days a week with a circulation of approximately 6,000. The majority of copies are delivered direct to subscribers.

Since its introduction in 1962 the single-width Goss Community press has become the world’s most popular web press with more than 35,000 printing units installed worldwide.
