Indigo press sets new standard for Port Printing
Port Printing achieves ISO 12647-2 standard for its new Indigo 5500 press.
The Perth-based trade printer last month installed a new HP Indigo 5500 press, which has been successfully profiled to the ISO 12647-2 standard by Jason Hall from CMYKit.
According to manager, Tom Wagenaar, Port Printing, the company had been printing to the ISO standard on its offset equipment for some time but wanted consistency for its short-run digital work. The decision to print to a standard coincided with the purchase of a new digital press.
Wagenaar recalls that: “The stringent criteria we set was met only by the Indigo. It was imperative we could offer our many national clients the confidence of ordering any quantity without stipulating digital or offset.”
Adrian Dixon, state manager for the Currie Group, Western Australia said that the company did some considerable research before settling on an Indigo 5500. “I have enjoyed a good working relationship with Tom now for 20 years and I know he researches new equipment very thoroughly indeed,” he said.
“So following a rather rigorous evaluation process that was very much focused on quality and versatility we were very pleased when Tom opted for the unique technology of the HP Indigo press. Being a trade printer, it was important that they are able to provide a digital print solution that truly matched offset”.
Wagenaar believes that the press will provide Port Printing with a number of advantages. “This installation will allow us to up the ante,” he said.
“I believe we are the only Australian trade printer to offer the 12647-2 standard on both digital and offset. Clients can now order any quantity in confidence knowing the output will be identical regardless of the device. This service helps to set us further ahead of our competitors, which is our way of rewarding the loyalty of our many clients across the nation.”
