Industry lobby success with Yellow Pages classification
The Print Finishers cross reference will be effective for the 2006 edition of the Yellow Pages Metropolitan and Regional Directories, with the organisation indicating that it considers this change to be the most appropriate means of addressing the needs of the directory's users.
The team from Maloufs Minifold had lobbied for this change in response to its previous classification under the Bookbinding category, indicating it felt this cross reference no longer properly represented the core focus of the business. While Maloufs was indeed involved hand binding when it was established in the late 1950s, like many other traditional bookbinders it has since shifted into automated stitching lines and other forms of print finishing.
Maloufs Minifold general manager David Rugless is happy his suggestions were taken onboard, insisting that the new category more properly represents the role of his and similar businesses in the Australian printing industry.
“We felt the term Print Finishers more accurately reflects the current state of the industry, and we are pleased that our suggestion has been taken onboard by the Yellow Pages,” Rugless says.
