Industry vets to deliver Melbourne’s next big trade show
First order of PacPrint13 business has been tabled as the six-person GAMAA and PIAA board set the exhibition gears turning.
According to Printing Industries CEO, Bill Healey, the first board meeting has already been scheduled for later in the year to begin the initial planning.
“We believe PacPrint will retain its importance as the industry’s premier trade show. Given the rapid pace of change it will provide members in the broader industry with the opportunity to keep up to speed with developments in technology and other relevant areas,” he said.
The board will work closely with Reed Exhibitions, which will again manage the sales and operational aspects of the show on behalf of the two co-presenters.
Ian Martin, president of GAMAA and chairman of the board, says he is eager to begin work on the 2013 Melbourne show. “There is a lot of pre-planning to do in order to ensure PacPrint13 meets the changing needs of the market and is representative of the directions the industry is heading in.
“The GAMAA members are looking forward to working with their Printing Industries counterparts to ensure that PacPrint13 remains a major event on the industry calendar, not just in Australia, but throughout the Asia Pacific region,” he says.
He noted the success of PrintEx11 was due to industry interaction with seminars and other elements that enabled visitors to get the most out of their attendance.
“We will be looking for innovations at shows such as drupa12 to see if there are concepts we can apply to PacPrint13 to ensure even greater relevance,” he adds.
GAMAA board representatives include Ian Martin, Ferag, Kodak’s Adrian Fleming and Fuji Xerox’s Brett Maishman with Muller Martini’s Livio Barbagallo as an alternate. The PIAA contingent comprises Peter Lane of Lane Print & Post, Printgraphics’ Ray Keen and association president Susan Heaney of Heaneys Performers in Print.
