Inkjet presses add splash of colour to Australian Power and Gas
Variable data printing from Computershare’s InfoPrint inkjet presses brightens up Australian Power & Gas mail campaign.
Computershare, which has provided multi-channel communications solutions for Australian Power & Gas’s bills, reminder notices and general correspondence since 2006 has recently signed a three-year contract for continued daily print services – including postage – along with paper-less document services.
According to Ross Ingleton, sales director for Computershare Communication Services, providing Australian Power & Gas with an affordable, low-risk option for colour printing was made easy with the two InfoPrint 500 (IP 5000) high-speed variable colour inkjet digital printing systems purchased in August last year.
“These systems that run from a continuous reel of white paper and produce cut sheets, print 50,000 images per hour and print directly from a digital file, eliminating the need for base stock,” he said. “For many clients, this technology means that colour is now an option.”
The presses have also resulted in a 10 per cent reduction in print and inventory costs. “The new variable colour platform … saved us a great deal of cost in eliminating the need for base stock completely,” said James Myatt, CEO of Australian Power & Gas.
Ingleburn believes that the IP 5000, which also allows clients to print directly from an approved digital artwork file to the printing platform, saved approximately nine days, from 14, in time to market for Australian Power & Gas. “Full colour is a cost-effective solution for the first time and the printing process is actually much shorter in steps to achieve it,” he added.
