Iraqi passport printing contract opportunity

The tender is being managed in Baghdad by an Australian business representative who has sought the assistance of the Printing Industries Association in locating suitable printers here to supply the high security documents. The multi-million dollar contract is being printed outside Iraq due to the security situation in the war-torn region.

“We have made inquiries and the contract is a genuine one. Further details will become available in the next few days,” said Joe Kowalewski, marketing manager of Printing Industries. “ Because of the size of the job and the proposed deadline, it is thought unlikely that any one printer would be able to manage it. Consequently we are facilitating the formation of a syndicate of our members to bid for the contract.”

The Iraqi Government has supposedly indicated Australia would be a suitable coalition partner country in which to produce not only the initial contract for passports but also subsequent security documents due to its reputation in security document printing and the stable political environment.
