ISO seminars steer printers on the right path
Printers going down the ISO path need to be doing it for the right reason, says industry expert, Alan Dresch from Mellow Colour.
As one of the guest speakers at this week’s Pathways to Profit seminars, organised by DES, Dresch urged printers to make sure their motives are genuine.
“The printers who went about it [ISO] the right way were the ones who did it to improve their efficiency; not because they were pushed into it by their customers,” he said. “It needs to come from the heart.”
Fellow guest speaker, Ulrich Schmitt from not-for-profit organisation, Fogra, shared similar thoughts during his presentation on how to implement ISO 12647 and its benefits to printers.
“It takes time to read and learn about ISO,” he said. “The more that people understand the concept, the better it is implemented. It starts in the mind and ends in action.”

The seminars, which took place around Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney attracted a total of 150 people, according to Russell Cavenagh, sales director, who described the event as a success.
“The level of attendance shows that interest is strong,” he said. “User case studies in particular really struck a chord with people.”
Already, strong leads have been created from printers keen to move into ISO.
Last year was the first time DES took its ISO seminars to the public. Cavenagh hinted that they may take place again. “DES’s background is based on innovation and when we see things that benefit businesses we like to showcase them,” he said.
