Industry consolidation is not a bad thing, but it can be painful if you're on the receiving end. When companies grow larger they obviously have more power market power. The temptation to turn up the heat on smaller competitors is understandable, but it shouldn't take the form of dropping prices. Any company that tries to gain a dominant market share by driving competitors out of the industry through lower prices is playing a dangerous game.
