It’s clear – the future is digital Fuji Xerox brings digital to life with special effects
Fuji Xerox Australia has announced it has installed 492 of its 700 Digital Colour Press platforms since launch.
The installation was celebrated in March, when Fuji Xerox installed more than 50 of the systems in one month.
Marketing Manager for Production Colour Systems, Henryk Kraszewski, says the success of the 700DCP is a credit to the commercial printing sector, which has embraced digital printing technology like never before. "Almost 70 per cent of all 700 installs have been to the commercial print and associated markets," said Kraszewski. "We're grateful that customers are continuing to invest and trusting us to take their business forward."
Kraszewski said that many customers were making the transition from offset to digital, and supplementing their traditional business with expansion in to digital printing. "In this day and age, consumers are finding it very difficult to distinguish between offset and digital, if they care at all," he said. "So the economics of running short-run, on-demand work is gaining new momentum because we're all being asked to do more with less."
He said that the average volume being produced on a 700 Digital Colour Press was in the region of 50,000 colour prints per month. "One Queensland customer recently printed a little more than 200,000 prints in just six days - and they were delighted with the reliability during that time.
Kraszewski said that while many 700 customers were trading up from existing Fuji Xerox or competitive platforms, an increasing number of clients are new to digital printing. "The industry has obviously seen a slow-down in investment for large offset presses, but anecdotal evidence indicates that a number of printers who might have been considering upgrading their offset equipment, decided to invest in digital print platforms instead."
Fuji Xerox Australia expects the 500th 700DCP to be installed in April. "The order book is very strong, and it feels as though the momentum is being maintained. We know things remain fragile in the commercial printing industry, but the evidence we have is that the folks investing in digital print technology seem to be generally more confident."
