It’s over: MAN Ferrostaal and manroland bust-up

MAN Ferrostaal’s new Arab owners ditch manroland printing presses.

MAN Ferrostaal and manroland have parted ways, ending its worldwide agency agreement after The International Petroleum Investment Company of Abu Dhabi (IPIC) is taking over 70 per cent of the shares of MAN Ferrostaal, with MAN stay invested as a shareholder maintaining 30 per cent.

From September this year, MAN Ferrostaal will cease to be the exclusive agent for manroland’s offset press equipment in Australia and New Zealand.

It is a major movement for the two companies, which share a long and evolved history dating back to when MAN Ferrostaal was known as Integrafica Print and Pack and Print and Pack Australia respectively.

In a statement, Markus Haefeli, managing director of MAN Ferrostaal Australia said that the manroland agency was a significant loss for the company.

“This partnership has been responsible for many major offset press installations in the region, ranging from small A3-size sheetfed presses up to entire newspaper plants,” he said.

He added that MAN Ferrostaal will now focus on markets such as packaging with the Bobst agency, along with prepress and print finishing and its consumables service.

“Our goal is to ensure that our customers receive the best possible deals,” Haefeli said.

manroland will set up its own organisation in Australia and establish a direct presence in markets currently serviced by MAN Ferrostaal.
