Jprint installation gives SOS room to move

SOS Print and Media extends its press power and floor space by purchasing a Jprint press.

A concrete slab has already been laid at the Alexandria site and the press will arrive later in the month before being installed in March.  SOS Print and Media is the first in NSW to install a Jprint. Traditionally, it has used Heidelberg and CPI presses but this time opted to purchase a Japanese-built Jprint from Akiyama. Michael Schulz of SOS (pictured), said that the decision was not meant to ruffle feathers and came down to best fit, literally.

"It's a good piece of modern technology and we have space constraints preventing us from purchasing a long perfector," he said. "We just wanted more press power and that is what the Jprint gives us."

Schulz listed a number of advantages to the Jprint, including short delivery time, high productivity, reduced costs and easy plate preparation costs.

"These factors all made it a suitable choice for us, and being the first in NSW is definitely a great feeling," he said.
