Judging is completed for National Print Awards
Not that the winners, or even the general public are any the wiser of who's taken out what; that's what the presentation night held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre on 25 May is for.
Chairman of the National Printing Awards judging panel Rod Urquhart said the judging process this year was "the smoothest ever". "The judging panel itself has settled in very nicely and we communicate and co-operate extremely well, in addition to which the quality of the entries is regularly improving. It probably was the best ever this year," he said. Urquhart particularly noted the two Booklets, Magazines and Catalogues categories (saddlestitched and bound by other method). "We got a huge number of brilliant entries and it was very difficult to decide," he added.
Set to be a night-of-nights, the National Print Awards presentation dinner will be hosted by TV personality Sandra Sully and impressionist Paul Martell. Chairman Scott Telfer said that holding the awards night during PrintEx, would help to draw a crowd.
All medal-winning entries will be on display in the foyer of the PrintEx exhibition. Gold, silver and bronze medallists will be identified on the day following the presentation dinner. Gold medal winners are eligible for the Heidelberg Award for Excellence in Craft.
The 24th National Print Awards presentation dinner will be held at The Bayside Grand Hall, Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Drive, Darling Harbour, Sydney on Friday, May 25. Pre-dinner drinks will start at 7:00pm. The dinner will commence at 7:30pm. To book visit the National Print Awards website, www.nationalprintawards.com.au
