Kodak proofing locks down SWOP certification
Matchprint Proofing Solution secures industry standard certification for ensuring quality in web offset publications.
SWOP (specifications for web offset publications) was established 30 years ago in response to a need in the industry’s for uniform specifications, to ensure the consistency and quality of printed publications. Three months after Kodak launched the products at Print 05, the Matchprint Inkjet Desktop 400 and 800 Proofing Solutions have been awarded the SWOP Certification
Gil Rosenfeld, product manager of Inkjet Proofing at Kodak, claims agencies, publishers and commercial printers are seeking inkjet proofing solutions that deliver in areas of ease of use, integration with existing prepress applications, as well as consistent and accurate colour matching.
“SWOP Certification of the MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing Solution reflects our commitment to offering colour proofing systems that perform to the highest industry standards,” says Rosenfeld.
To achieve SWOP certification, manufacturers submit an application data sheet along with representative proofs for review. A system earns the ‘SWOP Certified’ banner through its ability to produce proofs that closely match the appearance of the SWOP certified press sheet.
The Matchprint Inkjet Proofing Solution is based on Kodak-developed software, and includes a new certified process for colour confirmation, enhanced image smoothness and calibration tools, and direct connectivity to Kodak’s Prinergy and Brisque workflows.
The Matchprint Inkjet Proofing Solution is available in 2-up, 4-up and 8-up formats, packaged with a full line of proofing media for a range of procedures that include colour, content, imposition and two-sided proofing. Kodak nabbed its SWOP certification for the Matchprint using the Epson Stylus Pro printers along with its own Pro Publication Semi-Matte media.
