Konica Minolta called in to protect Department of Defence

To mark the occasion, members of Konica Minolta travelled to the Department's Canberra offices for an official ceremonial signing. The agreement follows an evaluation process by the Department last year as it decided to take advantage of MFD technology to provide staff with improved functionality while maximising costs across its fleet of 4000 units.

The deal is a great achievement for Konica Minolta according to Hiro Kaji, managing director, business solutions, who notes that the Department represents the largest MFD fleet in the Australian market. "We are extremely pleased to have entered into this partnership with the Department of Defence and will strive to provide the highest level of service with our dedicated team, created specifically to manage the account," he said.
"We look forward to a long-lasting and successful relationship with the Department."

A new team of staff have been enlisted to work on this contract. Derek MacMinn takes up the position of national manager, national accounts; joining him is Michael O'Byrne, project manager for the Department of Defence's MFD replacement project.

Konica Minolta was chosen for its complimentary offerings to the Department, said Kieran Gleeson, chief operating officer, Department of Defence. "After undertaking a detailed evaluation of the tenders received against an open public tender process, we selected Konica Minolta as our primary MFD supplier as we felt their organisation offered the most effective whole-of-life solution for Defence and that they had demonstrated that they understood our requirement," he said.

"We welcome the team's expertise and look forward to working together over the next five years."
