Latest processless CTP plate on the horizon
The Clarus PL is a processless plate that requires no post-imaging treatment, allowing it to go directly to the press after imaging is completed. The technology also eliminates the need for chemical processing, finishing gum as well as post and pre-bake ovens, and is targeted for run lengths of up to 50,000 impressions.
The Clarus PL is a latecomer in joining the other processless plate solutions already available from Agfa and KPG. According to Garry Muratore of Agfa , industry acceptance of the Agfa Azura processless plate has proved to be hugely enthusiastic with orders climbing every week.
"It's the technlogy that the industry wants. We're delighted with sales so far," he said.
Creo's processless CTP plate was originally revealed at drupa in 2004, and will be shown in its latest iteration at the Northprint graphic arts expo in the UK. “Clarus PL will be commercially available later this year, and by the time it is shown at Northprint we expect the product to be going into beta,” says Creo UK marketing manager Maria Machera.
There is no indication when the Clarus will be available in Australia and New Zealand.
