LATMA Awards 2009: all the winners
Numbers may have been down at this year’s LATMA conference, but the quality of the winning work was still as strong.
70 delegates attended the conference from 19-22 March in Victoria, equating between 60 to 70 per cent of LATMA’s members, according to national president, Frank Gavrilos, who originally anticipated between 100-150 delegates to be there.
“I’m surprised there weren’t more people there and those that weren’t missed a good three days,” he said, “everybody walked out having learnt lots.”
Topics at the conference included lean manufacturing, packaging, ‘green’ trends and an overview of the global economy.

Competition was tough at the LATMA awards and Gavrilos was very impressed by the high level of work that was produced. “The quality of the entries was outstanding,” he said.
Planning has already taken place for the next LATMA conference which will be held in 2011.
“We are in the process of consolidating LATMA into a national body and will start looking at the format of the conference and perhaps even scaling it back to two days,” Gavrilos said.
