Leopard print to M-Press

Finalised at Fespa Digital 2011, Germany-based Dambach Print+Service becomes the first printer in the world to purchase Agfa’s M-Press Leopard.

Based on a manual loading and offloading concept, the M-Press is designed to deal with changing job types and double-sided output that cannot be easily handled with a fully or partially automated system.

Heinz-Peter Bachman, owner of Dambach-Bachman group says the versatility and flexibility of the M-Press offers a huge potential to grow in its market.

"With M-Press Leopard we optimise our current production portfolio, in particular to complete with our 5 colour screen print line from Thieme,” he said.

Primarily intended for point of sales applications it is suited to the mid-sized print service provider whose output requirements sit in the bracket of 200,000 to 500,000 m2 of print per year.

Mark Brindley, managing director for AGFA Graphics Oceania says there had been a number of local customers in the market that went over to Fespa 2011 and were interested in this device.

“There will most definitely be a call for this machine in Australia, but we probably won’t see it here until early next year,” says Brindley.

According to AGFA, the M-Press’ low ink consumption and versatility are designed to challenge both offset and screen-printing in terms of running costs and print standards.

Printing on various substrates up to 1.6m by 2.6m and as small as A3, it can work with flexible and rigid materials up to 5cm in thickness.

AGFA says the design of the M-Press Leopard allows for new applications that require more manual handling.
