Re: The modern MIS - not just a pretty interface: Print 21 magazine article
I agree totally with all of the comments made in the article. Our MIS
software Accura was conceived 20 years by a printer needing to
understand how his business ticked, and what his "true" costs were. This
scenario is even more important in todays economic climate with printers
facing escalting costs and stronger competition from overseas companies.
The trueism "that you cannot continue to sell dollars for cents" is even
more relevant in todays economic climate.
The necessity for the printer to understand his real costs is the top
priority for all companies. The Accura MIS product is a true scalable
business tool able to be cost justified and used by all sizes and types
of print business, from copy shops to large multi site commercial
operations covering all of the market sectors from Litho to Digital, to
web and label.
An integrated part of the Accura suite is a product, developed by us,
called "The Cost Rate Calculator" this management tool enables the
printer to determine what his chargeable hourly rates should be , for
both machinery and departments, usining his actual overheads and
productivity targets. With this information, the MIS system will show the
printer what the cost of producing the job will be,before committing to
take it on! It also helps answer those what if questions such as how can
I be competetive on price and still make a margin on the job.
Without the knowledge of true costs then it becomes more and more
difficult to steer the correct path.

This would of been a good article if the writer had done his research and
written up about Quote & Print, Australia's leading MIS supplier with

Re: Internet print scam comes out of Africa
Just a quick note to let you know that I have received what is possibly a scam from Ghana.
I received a web quote request for 300,000 two-colour labels. It was a bit suspect, but sent a COD quote through. The quote was accepted and two Mastercard accounts were sent for me too bill.
Once again, starting to get more suspicious, I have tried to have the Mastercard amount authorised and both were declined. I will now send back an email telling them of this and wouldn't be surprised if they don't try and hit me up for the freight cost etc.
