Readers are crushed by the news of Robert Black’s departure from RMIT. Let us know your view on this, or any other, stories.
Re: Robert Black walks from RMIT
I was shocked to read of the decision of RMIT, Robert will be missed by the industry and during my time when I dealt with him I always found him to be committed to training and to the industry. We can ill afford to lose people of this calibre from the training agenda.

Well what a huge stuff-up on behalf of RMIT in letting Robert go. Robert had such a passion for his job and was the driving force behind the printing school. We will all be worse off for it.
Hopefully someone grows a brain and realises that he is a much-needed asset to the school.

A true graphic arts gentleman, one with a proven passion for the industry – from his humble beginning as an apprentice to one who has committed more than 25 years to educating the youth of our industry.
His respect within the industry and his devotion to the school of graphic arts resulted in the school’s long-term support by the industry suppliers. Robert’s recent negotiations for – and installations of – the latest technology equipment supports his high-standing.
Is this another case of academia/accountants taking control of industry education? If so it will be to the industries detriment.
RMIT should carefully review the ramification of its decision.

Re: You’ve lost that loving feline: Print 21 magazine article
I think Andy McCourt nailed the outlook that industry operators need to be aware of.
The GFC-induced market contraction has disguised and accelerated the structural change towards electronic mediums and digital printing.
Congratulations – fine article in my view. I hope the message gets through.
