LIA graduate line-up at NSW Awards night

The LIA will celebrate its 50th anniversary in style combining its 2013 National Graduate of the Year Awards with the NSW Printing Industries Craftsmanship Awards (PICA) presentation dinner on 6 December 2013.

A total of nine finalists representing New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia will attend the awards dinner vying for the two biennial prizes. The GAMAA–LIA National Graduate Scholarship Prize is a $15,000 grant to be used to further the winner’s education. The runner-up will receive the LIA–Printing Industries Future Leaders Award comprising an expenses paid visit to either drupa or IPEX.

LIA Federal President, Bernie Hockings, said the National Graduate of the Year Awards were the LIA’s most important activity and worthy of being showcased to the industry as widely as possible.

“The industry’s major events are the PICAs and we are very grateful that Printing Industries has allowed the LIA to bring its presentation into this significant industry gathering for the NSW PICA awards,” he said.

“The collaboration between the LIA and Printing Industries is very well thought of and we are very confident that this event will be a great success for all concerned.”

Printing Industries CEO Bill Healey said that the LIA’s commitment to the industry and in particular to fostering young people within the industry was a vital part of the support structure for employers.

“It’s important to encourage and recognise the achievements of our young people to ensure they remain committed to our industry in the long term,” he said.

“The LIA continues to be a major contributor to ensuring this happens and Printing Industries is delighted to be able to work with it and to help showcase this very important event to our entire NSW industry.”
