LIA graduates compete for top gongs
Countdown is on for the LIA to announce its top two graduates for 2009.
Held at the Terrace Room of the Australian National Maritime Museum on Friday 9 October, the winners of the LIA – Heidelberg Graduate of the Year Awards will learn who has been chosen to receive the two major national honours: the $15,000.00 GAMAA LIA National Graduate Scholarship Prize and the LIA Printing Industries Future Leaders Award.
The LIA’s NSW executive officer, Bob Lamont, (pictured) hopes that the night will provide a chance for young employees to network with one another. “The gathering together of the top apprentices from each state from the past two years presents them with a unique opportunity to be together, where despite the stress of the judging process, they will have the opportunity to visit leading edge companies and to be together in a social environment,” he said.

Lamont also thanked the organisations that make the LIA’s Award programs possible. “We could not stage such extensive programs without the dedicated support of Heidelberg ANZ, GAMAA, Printing Industries and the Collie Print Trust and we are very grateful for their support and commitment,” he added.
Federal President Greg Grace believes that LIA graduates gain access to opportunities to advance their career in the printing industry. “Many past winners have gone on to leadership roles in the industry,” he said. “I would like to urge the key staff of printing and graphic technology employers to show their support for this event by turning out in force to support the young people who are our industry’s future.”
