The Lithographic Institute of Australia (LIA) has invited members and non-members to a site tour later this month of the Fairfax plant at North Richmond, one of the most modern and diverse newspaper and commercial print plants in Australia.
The company’s publications include The Sydney Morning Herald, Australian Financial Review, The Land, Sunday Life, Good Weekend and more than 200 local and independent mastheads.
“We will have the opportunity to view the Prepress, Press and Post Press production areas,” said LIA secretary/treasurer Mike Williams. “In Prepress will see three Fuji-Krause CtP platesetters in operation, which are capable of producing 200 plates per hour. The Press Hall consists of 10 four colour single width MAN Uniset lines, two x four unit semi-commercial horizontal heatset, two dedicated UV and six conventional coldset four high towers. In addition, four towers of the double width GEOMAN, which feed into four folder units. The Post Press publishing system is Ferag, and Muller equipment is used for commercial binding.”
The tour will begin at 6pm, 23 February at Fairfax Media, 159 Bells Line of Road, North Richmond, north-west of Sydney. Following the tour, Bob Lockey, Fairfax’s Group Director, Print & Distribution Australiasia, will be the guest speaker at a dinner at The Panthers Club, 33 Beaumont Avenue, North Richmond.
The cost is $45 for LIA members and $50 non-members.
