A new KBA Rapida 145 large format sheetfed offset press will be one of the highlights of next month’s LIA (NSW) plant tour of Centrum Printing at Chipping Norton.

Centrum bought the six-colour Rapida with UV coater at drupa 2016 and the massive press arrived in Sydney late last year.

“Operating for over 25 years, Centrum offers a wide range of high quality commercial printing services specialising in point of sale, displays and packaging work,” says LIA (NSW) treasurer Mike Williams.

“We will see two of the latest state-of-the-art KBA sheet fed presses, the Rapida 162a and the Rapida 145, printing up to 1620mm x 1200mm, in up to six colours plus coating.

“Both presses can print on various substrates up to 1.2mm thick, making screen board, synthetics and polypropylene perfect for lithographic printing.

“Other in-house facilities include a large laminator celloglazing up to 1680mm, guillotines, folders, large format CtP, die-cutting, mounting and in-house knife making," says Williams.

The Centrum plant tour - at Unit 2, 43 Riverside Road, Chipping Norton, NSW 2170 (27 kilometres south-west of Sydney CBD) - will begin at 6.00pm on Tuesday, 4 April, and will be followed by dinner at nearby Enzo’s Cucina, Shop 9, Chipping Norton Market Plaza, Barry Road, Chipping Norton.

The cost is $45 for LIA members and $55 for non-members. If you have your own high vis. vest, please bring it with you.

Those interested should email mikewil@optusnet.com.au no later than 5pm on Friday, 31 March.
