Sometimes there’s more to winning than just the glory as two young industry professionals learned this year with fully funded trips to drupa in Germany
An important benefit for the state winners of the LIA Graduate of the Year award is the chance to compete for the lucrative $15,000 Visual Connections – Lithographic Institute of Australia national scholarship as well as the LIA – Printing Industries Future Leaders Award. This time around the two prizes went to Jessica McAuley from Drum Print in WA and Robert Smithers of Dominion Print Group NSW, respectively.
They both headed off to drupa to expand their understanding of the industry at the largest technology exhibition. When encountered by Print21 at the show they were happy to declare themselves impressed and excited by what they saw.
Karen Goldsmith, general manger, Visual Connections escorted Jessica around the show introducing her to all the right people while Robert Smithers was under the close eye of his boss, Kelvin Gage, who was there is also attend Dscoop.
