Life’s a beach at Dimension Studios

Bronzed bakers and pebbled Italian shores are all on display at Dimension Studios’ third exhibition, ‘Beach’.

Photographed by John Lane, who traveled through Northern Italy looking for the best beaches, babes and bathers, the voyeuristic images show a landscape which is both familiar and alien from Australia.

According to Lane, the shots were challenging to take, as he needed to be discreet in the subjects he chose and the angles he shot. The result is an unabashed and honest look at contemporary beach culture, without any of the fancy or glamorous trimmings.

Sponsored by Dimension Studios, 'Beach' commenced on the 12th of January
and will run until March in the Foyer of Freshwater Place at 2 Southbank
Boulevard.

John Helmore, marketing manger at Dimension Studios, has noted some interesting reactions to Lane’s work. “We are finding this exhibition a lot more popular [than previous ones], possibly due to the controversial nature of the images presented,” he said.

“Many people have firm opinions on the works and this has been helpful in generating word-of-mouth.”

The exhibition is free to attend and runs from 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday.
