Locals get green thumbs up in Heidelberg Eco Awards

Australia and New Zealand feature strongly in this year's Heidelberg Eco Awards.

Heidelberg launched the €50K award this year to give a boost to sheetfed offset printers that operate sustainably. There are two prize categories in the Eco Printing Award: Sustainable Companies and Forward-looking Solutions.

"The idea is to show that environmentally friendly credentials help printshops improve their image and boost earnings, while eco-friendly investments quickly pay for themselves," said executive board member for engineering and products Jürgen Rautert.

Of the total entrants from around the world, Australia and New Zealand represent 20 per cent of the entries.

"It's a fabulous response from our region," said Melanie Dooley, HAN marketing coordinator.  "We always knew printers in our region were early adopters of new technology, and the response to the Eco Awards would reinforce the forward-thinking, can-do attitude of our customers and entrants."

Fellow Australian and Print 21 contributor, Phillip Lawrence, has been invited to attend the awards as one of the judges.

The list of entrants from Australia/New Zealand include:
